Olive intros New MELODY 2 & OPUS 4 Digital Music Servers

Olive has introduced the MELODY N2 digital music server along with its OPUS N4 audio receiver. This system provides through Wifi or Ethernet connectivity the ability to stream up to 3,000 CDs in original CD quality anywhere in your house with Olive's MELODY N2, and in up to ten different rooms simultaneously. Both units come with a high-resolution color touchscreen and an innovative new interface to allow users to quickly and conveniently find the right music. The MELODY supports HD audio playback in 96kHz/24bit and features high-resolution D/A converters and a low-noise power supply. The OPUS receives ultra-quite hard drives cushioned in 8 layers of padding further enhance their astounding sound reproduction capabilities.

The OPUS N4 is available for pre-order immediately for $1,499 with a 320GB HDD or $1,799 with 1TB of storage. The MELODY N2 is also available for pre-order immediately for a price of $599.

D-Link DSM-750 Media Extender with Wifi 802.11N Released

Announced last September the DSM-750 Media Extender from D-Link finally hits the shelves. Available at D-Link's store for $329.99 the DSM-750 can stream music, photos, and HD videos stored on a PC, NAS (Network Attached Storage) or a USB flash drive to your HTPC over a wireless Draft 802.11n or wired Ethernet network. It includes HDMI connectivity for resolution of up to 1080i, S-video, and composite output, there are also coaxial and optical digital audio output for delivering digital surround sound.

Also the DSM-750 is compatible with Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate as well as standard Windows Vista and XP computers through Microsoft’s Windows Media Player 11 or Windows Media Connect and other Universal Plug and Play (UpnP) media servers.

Okoro launches new high-end media centers with Solid State Drive Technology (SSD). The ZX series utilizes a 3.0GHz quad-core Intel processor, high speed Solid State Drives (32GB) along with 1TB of hard drive disk for media storage, 3GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT video card and a combo Blu-ray/HD DVD player. This series will also be the first HTPC available that allows customers to choose any automotive color they desire as a standard feature.

The OMS-ZX100 is the first model available in the ZX line and comes for $5,995 with a 1-year warranty.

Maingear Computers, released their new line of Axess HD Home Theater media centers. Featuring the latest components like Blu-ray players, AMD Phenom Quad Core processors along with AMD ATI Radeon HD 3200 or HD 3450 graphic cards with 1080p output and full HD upscaling via an included Universal Video Decoder, the Axess HD media centers offer a stunning high definition experience. Also it provides 960 hours of HD recordings, 802.11n Wi-Fi , and a variety of premium input devices.

The computer hardware is housed in a sleek and low-profile enclosure design utilizing up to 10mm thick aluminum construction, acrylic trim, and an optional OLED front panel display.

This basic version of the Axess HD equipped with a Blu-ray disc player and Microsoft Windows Vista comes for $1,400.

Harman Kardon recently introduced an upgraded version of its DMC 250 media center, the new DMC 1000 adds a 250GB internal hard drive and multiroom capability up to four music streams as well as video and digital images simultaneously to four different locations in your home. It also features a progressive-scan DVD Video/Audio player, front-panel USB jack and memory card slots (CF, Memory Stick, SD, MMC) and the DMC 1000 will even let you transfer your music for use in portable players, and card-equipped cars and cell phones to the HDD. The Harman Kardon's media center comes for about 2800€.

Harman/Kardon DVC 600 Blu-ray Player with Media Center Capability

Harman-Kardon unveiled previously its new DVC 300 and DVC 600 Blu-ray disc player at the IFA show in Berlin last year, now Harman announced the release of these two Blu-ray players during the IFA this September. Both models will include media center capability like HDD recording function with 1TB of storage capacity for the DVC 600 instead of 500GB for the DVC 300, twin built-in digital TV tuners can record up to eight channels of standard or high-definition TV programs simultaneously.

The DVC series also plays back DVDs and CDs, while DVD and Blu-ray disc writers are optional. The system can upscale video to 720p, and has a wide range of connections such as digital DVI and HDMI inputs/outputs, USB and audio sockets.

Final prices for both models should be around $1,000.

South Korean manufacturer April Music is introducing the Aura Note, an all-in-one system for high-fidelity music listeners that combines an high-end top-loading CD player, an FM/AM tuner and a MOSFET based stereo amplifier with 50W per channel @ 8-ohm (20Hz - 25KHz) into a one box solution.

The Aura Note is able to play MP3, WMA or OGG files from CDs, USB mass storage devices or directly from your computer. The April Music's solution is available from AV123.com for the price of $1,850.

Alienware new High-Definition Media Server

Alienware released a new High-Definition Media Server designed to match the Hanger18 Media PC with interesting options like a dual layer Blu-Ray burner, the support up to four CableCards (Windows Vista Ultimate required) and 4TB of hard disk drive storage in RAID 5.

The HD Media Server case is built in aluminium and can be rack mounted, hidden behind the front panel the hot-swappable hard disk drive bays can carry up to four HDDs. For the technical specifications, the HD Media Server uses Intel Core 2 Quad 45nm processors with Intel X38 chipset motherboard, a 7.1-ch. sound card and an ATI 2400 HD Graphics with DVI to HDMI Adapter and 1080p output. The Alienware's system comes equipped by default with Microsoft Windows Vista Premium.

The iRiver's UNIT 2 features a sleek, minimalist design that enhances any interior, it offers advanced multimedia functionalities which includes audio, video, pictures, CD player, DVD player, DivX player, FM Tuner, VoIP phone, VoIP Video Phone, SMS/MMS, Web Browsing and Web Mail.

A 7-inch color touch screen makes navigation easy and the built-in stereo speakers hidden behind black grills produce every nuance of your favorite music and video entertainment. Other features include WiFi capability, a remote control, a built-in mic and a 30GB hard drive along with 2GB of flash memory.

Firmware Update allows Buffalo's LT-H90 to Stream Blu-ray Content

Announced a while back the Buffalo LT-H90WN and LT-H90LAN just got a new firmware which adds the compatibility with the Sony BDZ-X90 and BDZ-L70 Blu-Ray players/recorders. Now Buffalo's LinkTheater series is able to stream MPEG4-AVC and DR contents over your network.

Unfortunately, it seems that you can stream video only from recorded Blu-ray discs and not from purchased discs.
