Tannoy Arena Lite Home Theater Speaker Package

The new Tannoy Arena Lite is a 5.1-channel speaker system for the home theater enthusiasts, it combines the gorgeous styling of the "Dual Concentric" equipped satellites and center channel from the award winning Arena home theater system with the performance of the 300W TS10 subwoofer.

Each tweeter incorporates a titanium dome and neodymium magnet assembly coupled to a rear acoustic cavity and features the "WideBand" technology to deliver low colouration and remarkably detailed sound. At 300W RMS, the BASH amplifier utilised in the TS10 subwoofer has a patented high efficiency power amplifier circuit topology to feed the 250mm down firing woofer which delivers tremendous performance from a compact unit.

Also optional stands have swivel mechanisms for a precise adjustment, wall mounting plates and have been designed to hide cables. The Tannoy Arena Lite speaker package is on sale for a "mere" £899.95.

Tannoy SFX 5.1 Home Theater Speakers

The Tannoy SFX 5.1 released a few days ago is a sleek and stylish 5.1-ch. home theater speaker package available in black or silver high gloss finish for £279.90. The system comes with four single driver satellites and one twin driver center channel supplied with wall brackets and speaker cable.

According to Tannoy the "WideBand" technology has been incorporated into the satellites and center channel speakers to extend high frequency response up to 78KHz (I highly doubt this as we aren't supposed to hear anything above 20KHz), however this technology has been incorporated to improve sonic detail, imaging precision and overall system integration. The powered subwoofer delivers 100W and features a long throw 200mm driver to deliver punchy bass. Also it offers line and speaker level input and an automatic power on/off function.

All speakers have a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, a maximum sensitivity of 85dB, a frequency response of 140Hz - 78kHz (-6dB) and are magnetically shielded.

Genesis Next-Generation 2-Series (G2.2) Loudspeaker System

The Genesis 2 version 2 loudspeaker system is the successor of the Genesis 2 released back in 1993. The G2 is a high-end four-tower system featuring separate midrange/tweeter "wings" and servo-controlled woofer towers. This separation allows the mid/high frequency panels to be placed to optimize soundstage and imaging for the listening position, and the bass towers to be placed for smooth and extended bass response within the room.

The G2.2 is equipped with a completely redesigned servo-controlled bass amplifier with an extended bass response down to 16Hz and a new class-D module, as well as the cabinet which incorporates new midrange/tweeter "wings" made of solid cast acrylic and 8-inch woofers with higher displacement and lower distortion. This loudspeaker system boasts awesome characteristics such as a frequency response of 16Hz - 36KHz, a sensitivity of 91dB and 1000W of power handling capability into 4 ohms.

The Genesis 2.2 loudspeaker retails for US$63,000 in High Gloss Black. Other colors of acrylic may be possible on special order. They will be available through authorized Genesis dealers and distributors worldwide.

Jamo New R 907 brings Flagship R 909 to Smaller Package

Jamo New R 907 brings Flagship R 909 to Smaller Package

With the introduction of its flagship dipolar R 909 floorstander over two years ago, Jamo set a new standard for construction and performance in the high-end speaker category. The company plans to build on its success a smaller, more affordable version called the R 907.

Based upon the dipolar principle, meaning the sound from the front of the speaker is out of phase with the sound from the back, the R 907 loads dual 12-inch woofers as opposed to the 15-inch drivers that are featured in the R 909. Overall, the R 907 is approximately 20 percent shorter and 15 percent slimmer than its predecessor. However, its operation is identical in principle. Like its predecessor the R 907’s sound quality is very open and dynamic with extremely low distortion throughout the entire range, a highly-detailed midrange with optimal voice reproduction, and a powerful and punchy bass unmatched by any mass-produced dipolar speaker.

Priced at $8,999 per pair, the Jamo R 907 will be available for purchase through the specialty retail market in February 2008.
